The desert is about to get a lot more exclusive—and a lot more stylish. For those who have long sought a sanctuary where mid-century modernism meets an elite creative community, the wait is nearly over. Soho House has officially confirmed its expansion into the Coachella Valley, with a highly anticipated opening in Palm Springs slated for 2027. This move signals a new chapter for the brand’s California footprint, joining the ranks of its iconic outposts in West Hollywood, Malibu, and Downtown Los Angeles.

True to the brand’s ethos of reclaiming historic spaces and infusing them with contemporary soul, the new House will take over the legendary Colony 29 property. Nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, this six-acre estate is a piece of California history, originally built in the 1920s as an artist colony. Spanning lush grounds just a short walk from downtown Palm Springs, the site offers a rare sense of seclusion. The existing architecture—a mix of Spanish Colonial Revival and mid-century aesthetics—provides the perfect canvas for Soho House’s signature interior design. Members can expect the brand’s quintessential "lived-in luxury" look: velvet sofas, curated local art, and vintage-inspired textiles that pay homage to the desert’s golden era.

The plans for the property suggest a comprehensive retreat designed for both productivity and pleasure. A central feature of the destination will be a sprawling pool deck, meticulously designed for long, sun-drenched afternoons and poolside networking. The accommodation offerings are expected to feature a variety of guest rooms and standalone cottages, maintaining the intimate, "bungalow" feel that made the original Colony 29 so alluring. Multiple indoor-outdoor dining spaces will serve locally sourced California cuisine alongside the club's signature cocktails, while botanical paths and hidden courtyards will offer quiet corners for members to work or unwind under the shade of palms and olive trees.

Beyond the physical amenities, the arrival of Soho House marks a significant moment for the Coachella Valley’s social landscape. The Palm Springs outpost offers a year-round connection to the art, design, and music scenes that define the desert—from the global draw of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to the architectural pilgrimage of Modernism Week. For the nomadic creative, this won't just be a hotel or a club; it will be a home base in the high heat. As 2027 approaches, the anticipation continues to build for what is certain to become the desert’s most coveted key. Stay tuned for membership applications and further design reveals as the transformation of this historic gem begins.
