A WORLD WELL LIVED

The Fairway of Purpose: Inside Swing for a Cause

There is a specific magic that happens on a golf course at 8:00 a.m.—a blend of crisp air and shared anticipation. But for those gathered for Swing for a Cause, the energy carries a weight far more significant than a scorecard.

Founded in 2024 by Travis O’Connor, the tournament was born from a desire to turn a passion for sports into a vehicle for service. The heart of the event belongs to the Lamb Foundation of NC, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The mission became personal the moment Richard White of the Foundation stood on the green to accept the inaugural donation, transforming a simple fundraiser into a powerful human story.

The day is a curated blend of sport and philanthropy. Following a morning of practice rounds and putting contests, players tee off at 9:00 a.m. for a round that culminates in a celebratory check presentation and raffle. It is a high-energy atmosphere that has quickly outgrown its roots; what started with a small circle of friends has expanded into a community-wide movement.

Looking ahead, the goal is to raise $7,000+ at the fall event in 2026 and inspire a new generation to lead with purpose. Ultimately, Swing for a Cause proves that when we gather for a shared mission, we do more than play a game—we build a community that looks out for its own, one swing at a time.
