Healing Ways to Use Himalayan Pink Salt for Your Body and Mind

You've probably seen the giant slabs of Himalayan rock salt sold at grocery stores before. Maybe you stopped to read the label and find out what it was all about. Perhaps you even know someone who uses such a piece of lamp. Now, there are some health benefits to lamp, but there are so many more perks than just setting it on top of a light. For both physical and mental peace of mind, here are some of the numerous healing ways to use Himalayan pink salt.


Reduce Your Blood Pressure

Wait, doesn't salt raise your blood pressure? Traditional table salt does, yes. Table salt is highly processed and, in reality, has very little in the way of actual minerals. However, Himalayan salt, which hails from the Punjab region of Pakistan and mined from the base of the Himalayas, is made up of 80 different minerals, including calcium and iron. Because the salt lacks the processing the body is able to digest it easier. It also doesn't require as much water to push the Himalayan salt through your body. This helps avoid dehydration and other negative issues often associated with regular salt.


Himalayan pink salt is rich in iodine. The natural iodine assists your body in maintaining an electrolyte balance, which boosts your ability to absorb nutrients and, as a result, lower your blood pressure.


Soothe Your Muscles

A salt bath is a fantastic way to help reduce the stress of your muscles. Heat alone only goes so far. Adding minerals to your bath helps dramatically. Himalayan pink salt will help improve your body's ability to absorb different minerals, which in turn will help your body strengthen its bones and reduce soreness. So, the next time your body is aching just reach for the Himalayan salt and add some to your hot bath. Allow it to dissolve and climb on it. Your body will absorb some of the salt, which will then begin to go to work right away.


Rid Yourself Of Dry Skin

Is your skin dry? Do you notice patchy flakes on your elbows and knees? Maybe this is due to the dry, cold weather of winter. Perhaps it is because you have hard water at home. Whatever the reason is, you can exfoliate away the dry skin with Himalayan pink salt. Himalayan salt is an exceptional natural exfoliant. It isn't as harsh as other options out there and it is 100% natural.


To help exfoliate while at the same time hydrate your skin, combine the salt with a coconut oil (you can use castor oil as well, which is another excellent, natural oil to use on your body), and then combine the mixture into a warm washcloth. This will help rub away the dry skin while nourishing your body at the same time. If you do have hard water the salt path will help cut down on the dryness you're experiencing post-bath as well.


Reduce Depression

If you haven't hopped on the Himalayan salt lamp yet, now is the time to do so. One of the benefits to the salt lamp is it produces negative ions. These are molecules that are natural produced in the environment. You will most commonly find these negative ions in places such as the mountains, forests, or even some beaches. If you've been to some of these locations on your own you probably have felt a sense of calm and tranquility to being in these areas. While the natural beauty has something to do with it the peace of mind also comes from these negative ions produced. By adding negative ions to your home with the aid of a salt lamp you'll help bring this peace of mind wherever you live.


How does this happen? Negative ions can help boost your natural serotonin levels. This increase in the serotonin levels has the ability to improve your mental state of mind which will cut down on depression.


Get Rid Of That Blue Light

You look at too many blue lights throughout the day. Blue light is create by basically any electronic screen, including computers, televisions, cell phones, or really anything with a screen. This blue light can cause stress on your eyes and it makes you feel run down and tired. It is helpful to cut down on the amount of blue light you're looking at whenever possible, but at times you simply can't get around it. To help offset the impact of a constant blue light you need to introduce a different light. With a Himalayan salt lamp you will add a warm, pinkish light to your room. This is a similar color to what a candle or natural fires might add to a room.


This allows you to add a natural light to your home without worrying about flames or fire, which can make it the perfect night lamp for a child or to place around the house without fear of heating up.
