THE VIRTUAL FESTIVALS TO ATTEND THIS SUMMER

Art and design

Dezeen’s Virtual Design Festival is the first of its kind to launch, with a remote rolling program running until June 30. It features an impressive group of global architects and designers as guest speakers. It will encompass interviews and talks as well as performances, screenings, and exhibitions. All on line of course.

Prestigious art fairs Frieze and Art Basel have also launched digital platforms in place of their global annual events this year. Here leading galleries will connect through individual ‘viewing rooms’ with collectors and art enthusiasts. So far, the Art Basel Hong Kong and Frieze New York iterations have taken place, and both have generated much excitement and enthusiasm in the art world. Just like the live in person events, they take place over a period of days, and open first to VIPs and then to the general public.

Food and drink

To help connect suppliers with people in a time where local food matters.

This newly formed not-for-profit initiative will continue its work to make food accessible for people in these difficult times, connecting suppliers to customers, raising money for charity and offering fringe events with cooking inspiration, tips and demonstrations along the way.

The project continues after the success of the first Virtual Food Festival which included headline chefs such as Rick Stein, Angela Hartnett, José Pizarro, Mitch Tonks, Rick Toogood, Ross Geach and Jack Stein.

Ross had an idea to help support local suppliers such as farmers and fishermen who need to find a way to sell directly to the public, and, with the help of friends, the virtual food festival has been created, promoting businesses, and helping people learn how to cook and have some fun along the way.

When Ross came to Jack and suggested the concept it just made so much sense. It’s a simple idea – whilst restaurants are closed and not able to buy from brilliant suppliers, we can help to showcase their great produce so customers can order directly from them. If you miss any of the live-streamed show's they are available on YouTube - from the Virtual Food Festival.
