Saks Turns the Lights Back On

After a year of dimming the dazzle, Fifth Avenue’s most famous façade is ready to shine again — brighter, bolder, and very New York.

New York is getting its sparkle back. After taking an unexpected breather in 2024, Saks Fifth Avenue is flipping the switch once again—literally. The iconic holiday light show is officially returning this November, and Fifth Avenue is already buzzing like someone plugged in Christmas early.

For nearly two decades, Saks has been the city’s glittering heartbeat of the holidays—part fashion, part theater, and fully fabulous. Last year, the famed light display went dark while the brand “reimagined” its approach, focusing instead on understated architectural lighting and its elaborate holiday windows. Chic, yes. But let’s be honest—New York missed the sparkle.

This year, it’s back and bigger than ever. Saks confirmed the light show’s grand return for November 24, 2025, when the façade will once again burst into a symphony of music and light every evening through the holidays. Think 700,000 LEDs, synchronized to holiday scores, and enough wattage to make the Rockefeller tree blush. Performances will run every ten minutes from 5 to 11 p.m., giving passersby countless chances to bask in the glow—and capture that allimportant Fifth Avenue selfie.

Preparations are already underway, with crews beginning the intricate setup this fall. Expect six themed windows unveiled in sync with the lighting ceremony, each an over-the-top ode to fashion and fantasy. Saks hasn’t yet teased this year’s theme, but if past collaborations with Dior, Fendi, and Elton John are any hint, it’ll be anything but subtle.

For those keeping track of New York traditions that feel like pure magic, this is one worth bundling up for. After all, you can take the lights away for a year—but you can’t dim Fifth Avenue for long.
